| 31 August 2010 | The August 26-27 Lutheran CORE Convocation elected Pr. Paull Spring as Bishop of the North American Lutheran Church for a provisional one-year term, and Pr. | 16 August 2010 | Word of Life Lutheran Church in Maryville, Tenn., a new NALC mission congregation, will hold its first worship service on Sunday, August 22. They will be served by Pastor Connie Bramlett. |
| 10 August 2010 | Nominees and Rules of Procedure for the Convocation: The Lutheran CORE Steering Committee has announced nominees for leadership positions in Lutheran CORE and the North American Lutheran Church for the elections at the Convocation on August 26-27. The Lutheran CORE nominees are presented in line with the proposed amendments to the Lutheran CORE constitution. The Steering Committee is functioning as the provisional nominating committee for the NALC and the NALC nominees are for provisional one-year terms. | 2 August 2010 | Two bishops of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania will take part in the Lutheran CORE Convocation August 26-27 in suburban Columbus, Ohio. The Rev. Dr. Benson Bagonza, bishop of the ELCT’s Karagwe Diocese, and the Rev. Dr. Owdenburg M. Mdegella, bishop of the ELCT's Iringa Diocese, are attending as official representatives of the ELCT Presiding Bishop, the Rev. Dr. Alex Gehaz Malasusa.
Bishop Bagonza will preach at the closing worship of the Convocation. Both bishops will participate in the installation of newly-elected leaders of Lutheran CORE and the North American Lutheran Church. The 5.3-million member Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania is the second largest Lutheran Church in the world. |
| 26 July 2010 | On July 11, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Whitewood, South Dakota, voted unanimously to join the North American Lutheran Church. The congregation also took its first of two constitutionally-mandated votes to leave the ELCA. Congregations can now express their desire to be a part of the NALC when it is constituted at Lutheran CORE's Convocation Aug. 26-27 in suburban Columbus, Ohio. |
| 19 July 2010 | Lutheran CORE is inviting Christians around the world to join in 40 days of prayer as Lutherans in North America gather to form the North American Lutheran Church (NALC) and to shape the ongoing ministry of Lutheran CORE as a community of confessing Lutherans regardless of their church body affiliation. The 40 days of prayer begin on July 19 and continue through Aug. 27, the day the NALC will be constituted. Devotions and prayers have been prepared for each of the 40 days. The devotions and prayers will be posted daily here. |
| 12 July 2010 | Lutheran CORE has received final approval of its 501(c)(3) charitable tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service. In its early years Lutheran CORE operated as a part of the WordAlone Network. A separate 501(c)(3) application was made earlier this year. Contributions should be made payable to "Lutheran CORE" and all contributions throughout 2010 are tax-deductible. |
| 5 July 2010 | On June 27, New Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Hickory, North Carolina, voted overwhelmingly (102-5) to join the North American Lutheran Church. The NALC will be constituted at Lutheran CORE's Convocation Aug. 26-27 in suburban Columbus, Ohio. |
| 21 June 2010 | On June 6, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, a 640-member congregation in Abington, Pennsylvania, voted to join the North American Lutheran Church. The suburban Philadelphia congregation also took its first of two constitutionally-mandated votes to leave the ELCA. |
| 14 June 2010 | June 6 was something of a "mission Sunday" for the North American Lutheran Church (NALC), as the first two NALC mission congregations held their initial worship services. Faith Lutheran Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Advent Lutheran Church in Winchester, Virginia, both are congregations organized by local groups of Lutherans that have indicated their intention to join Lutheran CORE and the NALC once it is constituted. |

Register for the Convocation by phone at 888-551-7254 until 3:00 p.m. Central on Aug. 23. After that you may register at the door. This historic Convocation will consider proposals for the creation of the North American Lutheran Church and for the ongoing ministry of Lutheran CORE as a Community of Confessing Lutherans regardless of their church body affiliation. |
| 1 June 2010 | Proposed amendments to the constitution of Lutheran CORE are now available online. The proposed amendments, which come from Lutheran CORE's Steering Committee, will be considered at the Lutheran CORE Convocation August 26-27 in suburban Columbus, Ohio. |

| 17 May 2010 | Advent Lutheran Church, a congregation being formed by a group of Lutherans in Winchester, Virginia, was welcomed as a charter member of the North American Lutheran Church. The NALC will be constituted this August. Advent Lutheran is the first mission congregation to affiliate with the new church body. |
